Welcome to Sun Coast La Leche League. Our goal is to provide mother-to-mother support and breastfeeding information to all mothers and mothers-to-be. La Leche League supports a style of parenting that includes the idea that a mother is most sensitive to her infant's needs when breastfeeding. It is important to know that breastfeeding is a learned art and is much easier with preparation, knowledge and encouragement.
Please join us in our continuing series of informal discussion meetings. We welcome all women interested in learning more about breastfeeding and mothering. At meetings we share personal stories and practical tips about breastfeeding and parenting. Discussions topics include, but are not limited to: the benefits of human milk, breastfeeding basics, planning for baby, there is a new baby in your life, the normal course of breastfeeding, becoming a mother, questions mothers ask, thoughts on weaning, baby's changing needs, and family nutrition.
We hope that when you come to the meetings, you will share your wisdom, bring your questions and meet new friends. We do ask that you take home what you think will work for your family and leave the rest. Since all families are different, what works for one family may not work for another.
We have a library available with many books on breastfeeding, parenting, childbirth and nutrition that are available for loan. We also have some La Leche league books available for sale, including THE WOMANLY ART OF BREASTFEEDING.
Children of all ages are welcome at the Meetings.

Leader Information
La Leche League Leaders are accredited volunteers that are experienced breastfeeding mothers who are familiar with research and current findings dealing with all aspects of breastfeeding. They offer practical information and moral support to nursing mothers through monthly meetings and telephone help. For meeting locations and breastfeeding concerns that cannot wait until the next meeting, please call one of the Leaders listed below. If you have an urgent need and cannot reach a Leader, please call your hospital lactation counselor or your health care provider.
