All breastfeeding mothers and mothers-to-be interested in breastfeeding are welcome to come to our meetings or call one of our Leaders for breastfeeding help or information. Babies are always welcome at our meetings.

Welcome to La Leche League of Jacksonville at Avondale. Our goal is to provide mother-to-mother support and information about breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is an art, not a science! It can be a simple and natural process, but you may need support and information along the way. We can offer information on the correct positioning of the baby at breast, working and breastfeeding, avoiding problems, and overcoming any difficulties that may occur. Knowing other women who have breastfed their babies can be helpful and reassuring. Having accurate, up-to-date information is also important.

Attending La Leche League meetings can help you learn about breastfeeding from other nursing mothers. Our meetings are discussion-based, with a series of topics. At these monthly meetings, mothers also share not only their questions and concerns, but also the benefits and joys of breastfeeding. Being in touch with La Leche League can give you the network of support you need.

We encourage all mothers & mothers-to-be to attend. Healthy children are always welcome.
We offer books for sale along with an extensive lending library, available to members.

La Leche League Leaders are experienced mothers who have breastfed their own babies and who have been trained and accredited by La Leche League International to help mothers and mothers-to-be with all aspects of breastfeeding. They are available by phone whenever you have breastfeeding questions or concerns.

La Leche League is an international, nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to providing support, encouragement, information, and education to women who want to breastfeed.
Membership in La Leche League International is $40 for one year. Membership fees help to support your local Group and the international organization. The benefits of membership include a one-year subscription to NEW BEGINNINGS magazine.
